Plus, Aria falls deeper under Ezra’s control! Will he find a way to turn her against the girls?
Determined to prove Ezra’s (Ian Harding) connection to “A,” Spencer (Troian Bellisario) spent the Feb. 4 episode of Pretty Little Liars compiling a collection of damning evidence and planning to tell Aria (Lucy Hale) the truth. Unfortunately, no one was really in the mood to listen to the insane rantings of a pill-popping lunatic who looks like she hasn’t slept in 25 years.
It’s a shame, too, because Spencer was dead-on — about everything. She even figured out that Ezra was watching her from a distance, which is why she and Hanna (Ashley Benson) decided not to break into his apartment, after all.
I guess sometimes you can be too smart for your own good.
Cabin Fever
Sadly, Aria doesn’t have nearly as strong an “A”-dar as Spencer. She spent the weekend with Ezra in his sketchy forest cabin, unaware that every time she left, he crept into the basement to monitor her friends via computer.

And when she was at the cabin, she played right into his hand, letting him convince her that growing closer to him — and, thusly, drifting apart from her friends and family — is actually a good thing! She didn’t even pick up on his obvious cover-up lines. (“I’m fine… I’m just, uh… I’m glad you stayed!”)
Is it possible that old pink hair dye seeped into Aria’s brain, rendering her unable to see what’s right in front of her face? That girl is hopeless!
Hanna Marin, You Have The Right To Remain Smitten
Is it just for me, or do Hanna and Detective Holbrook — excuse me, Gabe – have crazy chemistry together? Sure, he’s a little older than her, but those Marin women have never been able to resist a man with a badge.
And with Ezra targeting the girls more intensely than ever, it certainly couldn’t hurt to have a detective on their side — unless, of course, he turns out like every other law official on the show so far. Fingers crossed he doesn’t end up trying to get the girls killed!
Show Me The Money
Shana’s been pretty much the worst all season, but she finally started working with Emily (Shay Mitchell) this week, rather than against her. She enlisted Emily’s help to retrieve a wad of cash from Ali’s room — specifically, one that was hidden in the frame of a poster with twins on it. Um… foreshadowing much?!
Unfortunately, Shana wasn’t able to explain what the money was for, because “A” — aka Ezra – scared her into leaving town and never returning. One of the last shots of the episode was of Alison (Sasha Pieterse), scared and alone in a phone booth, looking at a picture of the liars and crying.
Tragic!
