Pretty Little Liars Round Table: Shadow Play

As the table discussed Pretty Little Liars Season 4 Episode 19 the participants try to determine if anyting of value was discovered from Spencer's dream, who looked the best in period dress and what might come when Aria is told about the information that's piled up around Ezra.

Join staff writers Leigh Raines, Teresa Lopez and Carissa Pavlica with your own answers to all the questions by posting them in the comments. It's always more fun with your participation!

--------------------------------------------------------------------

How long do you think Spencer zoned out at the kitchen counter to imagine that entire scenario? Did you like the way her brain worked it all out?

Leigh: I bet it wasn't all that long. Don't they say dreams happen in just a few minutes? I liked how she tripped out. That's what sleep deprivation will do!

Teresa: Seemed like just a few seconds. Time is relative, I guess. It was an interesting way to push her into figuring things out, but I don't like that it seemed to condone her druggie behavior. Maybe Spencer wouldn't have come to that realization if she'd hadn't fallen asleep while standing. Plus, we didn't really need an entire episode's worth of Spencer piecing it together through an elaborate dream.

Carissa: I thought it was fun way to see what Spencer's brain did for her. All of the things she thought about have been on her mind, including the difficulties Emily has with her sexuality in the general public. Even if she only zoned out for a few seconds, it's nice to know she doesn't only think of herself when she disappears.

Who did the time period best? Give a shout out to your favorite and worst, or rank your top three, etc. Responder's choice!

Leigh: I think Hanna was my favorite. She looked good in 40s clothes and she was funny running that switchboard. I think she would've been fabulous in that time. It was also great to see Emily all glammed up, I thought she looked stunning.

Teresa: I actually think Ezra did it best. He had that controlled, menacing appeal that a lot of film noir villains do. My least favorite was definitely Toby. That 40s and 50s slang just didn't seem natural for him.

Carissa: For the girls, it was a tough choice. Spencer looked lovely, Emily stunning and Hanna adorable. Paige didn't fit. Ezra certainly beat out Toby for the guys.

How did Ezra manage to make changes to a diary that was written in pen that weren't immediately noticeable?

Leigh: That diary is probably really messy with scribbles, rewrites, cross outs, notes etc. Also it's PLL so extended imagination!

Teresa: I'm gonna go with Leigh on this. Suspension of disbelief is key to Pretty Little Liars fandom.

Carissa: That bugged me. The photos on Spencer's camera looked exactly the same as the diary pages. It would have been impossible. Silly Liars.

Did we learn anything of value from the episode?

Leigh: Hmm that the girls look great in period pieces. The dangers of too much Adderall and sleep deprivation. Also I think there was a hint that Spencer thinks Ali is afraid of her. That scene stood out.

Teresa: Umm....Spencer still thinks Alison is totally witch with a capital B? She wasn't very forgiving in her portrayal of Alison, and it really showed how much she distrusts her former bff. Maybe she does think Alison is afraid of her as Leigh suggests, and maybe we should wonder why that is. Did Spencer do something that night Ali disappeared that she hasn't shared yet?

Carissa: There has always been a tension suggested between Spencer and Ali, and I agree that it seemed Spencer's dream acknowledged it's a reality. I wonder what it is, and I can't wait to find out.

What is your expectation for next week after seeing the preview?

Leigh: Aria is gonna LOSE it. I don't think she'll believe Spencer at first because Spence is starting to look the way she feels and that's "haggard" but when Aria finally does...oh man. Can't wait!

Teresa: It's going to be intense! Aria is usually the most level-headed of the liars, but it looks like she's going to freak out. I'm excited to see it!

Carissa: I'm interested to see how Ezra handles it. We know Aria will freak out, but what will Ezra do? How will he try to get out of it and what will the lie (or truth) really be? I expect him to do some fancy dancing around the truth and I'm interested to put the pieces together after that.

Pretty Little Liars Round Table: Hot for Teacher

Welcome back to the Pretty Little Liars Round Table!

This week, we're talking about Pretty Little Liars Season 4 Episode 18 and that includes a chat about the intricacies of EzrA, how quickly Shana flew the coop, when Ali will put her faith in the Liars and who's in immediate danger.

Join staff writers Leigh Raines, Teresa Lopez, Nick McHatton and Carissa Pavlica as they delve into all of this and theorize about the possibility of twins. Join in the fun now!

-----------------------------------------------------

Do you think Shana was scared away easily?
Leigh: Not really. If you woke up in your car having no recollection of what happened, wouldn't you be freaked out? Plus we still have no idea what knocked her out in the first place.

Teresa: Yeah. For someone who's been around every sketchy character in Rosewood, it didn't take much to get her to abandon Alison. I guess that means those other shady characters are actually innocent? I mean each of the liars has been terrorized pretty badly and not one has run off. Although, leaving the country sounds like a much better idea than finding out who A is.

Nick: There's more going on than just finding herself in a strange place not knowing what happened. She's being threatened, or maybe something even bigger is going on with her.

Carissa: Not only did she leave, she hung up on her oldest and dearest friend who she knew without her was without resources. She's always acted pretty tough, and now I wonder if it was all a put-on. To cut and run like that was pretty chicken. She acted as if the Liars were bad friends for being frightened but look how easily she was run off. What she went through was nothing by comparison.

Why did EzrA keep talking about truth with Aria?
Leigh: I think that even though we have established that EzrA is bad, there is still a side of him that is totally in love with Aria. He probably wants to be able to get close to her and hates having a huge secret. Then again, he's also probably stressing it because he wants information out of her.

Teresa: It was all about misdirection. If he comes across as an honest guy who thinks the truth is important, maybe Aria will give him the benefit of the doubt when he tries to explain away all the creepy stalking. It could work. Remember how easily Spencer went back to trusting Toby?

Nick: I'm with Teresa on this one. It's about Ezra misdirecting those around him. He has a persona to keep up. This lovable, slightly dorky man who believes in the classics, and values truth and honesty. Additionally, he wants to continue gathering information. Those pictures the A-Team is shooting of the liars only tells one half of the story, and he's hoping to find some context by continually talking about truth with Aria.

Carissa: This is part of the reason I'm asking the final question. I'm wondering if his desire is sincere. I'm starting to think his dual personality is too good. Even when he's good, he's still slightly off, but that's because of his overwhelming secret. Or else I'm a nutter. Probably that.

Ali has to put her faith in Emily. When will she do that?
Leigh: Within the next few episodes. Ali is almost out of money, she will have no choice. However, I think she will use another liaison rather than go to Emily directly. It's still too risky after what happened at their last meeting.

Teresa: I'm guessing not too long now. With no money and no contacts in Rosewood (that we know of anyway), she's going to need someone who has already proven that she is willing help no matter the danger. But next week's show looks like a weird (and unnecessary) departure from the usual format. Who knows when it will happen?

Nick: I don't think it's up to Ali. Knowing Emily she's going to keep pursuing Ali until Ali agrees to let her help her.

Carissa: Ali has about $14 and her only help just left her. She knows deep down that the Liars have always been there for her, even with as horribly as she has treated them. I hope she reaches out within the next couple episodes.

Who is in the most jeopardy right now?
Leigh: Spencer, for sure. Not only is she out of her mind on speed and no sleep, but she's getting way too close to the truth. Ezra knows and I'm sure the rest of the A-team does too. Ali didn't want Spencer at her meeting with Emily so I'm guessing that no one will really be happy that Spencer has all of this information. Second place is Aria, you know sleeping with the enemy and all. Did you see those close up pics in A's lair?

Teresa: Aria. She's sleeping with the enemy in his stalker cabin and no one has told her to protect herself yet.

Nick: Spencer since she's closest to figuring out EzrA. Spencer is going to slip up somewhere. She's getting sleep deprived, and she's close to having a Jesse Spano freakout from the pill popping. If she confronts Ezra without being completely focused, then she's drowning in the deep end without a floatie. Even Mona had a difficult time with Ezra, so Spencer needs to figure out a game plan without being so excited.

Carissa: Spencer. Until she gets her pill popping and lack of sleep under control, she's just short of a breakdown. That makes her very weak. Weak people are easy marks. Aria's weak because she's blinded by love, so she's in second place.

1. Are You on Drugs?
Spencer's brain is trying to tell her something, but will she piece it all together?

Something crossed my mind: how far out would it be if EzrA had a twin?
Leigh: This is Pretty Little Liars, anything is possible. It sure would make it easier to be in all those places at once. You think that one EzrA is the mastermind behind the control boards while the other one is out there doing the dirty bidding? Could be.

Teresa: That would both awesome and awful. Awful because it would totally destroy all the great character work Ian Harding is doing with Mr. Fitz. But awesome because who doesn't like a bad twin story?

Nick: That's a really awesome idea. It would give PLL it's own twist away from the books, but still paying an homage to them. Maybe there's an actual Fitzgerald out there!

Carissa: Some things keep coming to me. First that the writers haven't promised that EzrA won't be shown to have reasons for his odd behavior. Then all of his talk about truth. The close up photos of Aria make me think someone else needs to see her like that, not EzrA. His attire choices when he's A -- the windbreaker and cap. Can you imagine EzrA ever wearing that? What if he's protecting his crazy twin who was in Radley and had a relationship with Ali when he broke out. He also seems to be two places at once far too often. Maybe he's on his own A team, so to speak. Go on... hit me with your best shot!

News: Sniper Elite 3 may run a little slower on Xbox One than PS4

While Rebellion still hopes to achieve parity between the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of Sniper Elite 3, the game may end up running "a little bit slower on Xbox One" than Sony's console, 505 Games has said.
In an interview with Gaming Bolt, senior producer Jean-Baptiste Bolcato revealed that Rebellion was aiming to get "as close as possible to 60 frames per second on both the systems.
"It will probably be closer to 60 on the PS4 but it drops to around 40 and 50, but you won't really feel or notice it," he said. "It may be a little bit slower on Xbox One but we are hoping to have full [parity] between the two machines." The Xbox One won't feature support for stereoscopic 3D either, Bolcato said, "as they do not support it yet".
Bolcato's comments round off another bad week for Microsoft that has already seen Hideo Kojima reveal that the Xbox One version of Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes won't look quite as good as the PS4 version.
Sniper Elite 3 launches on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PC in the second half of 2014.

Pretty Little Liars Recap: Spencer Threatens To Expose Ezra Secret

Plus, Aria falls deeper under Ezra’s control! Will he find a way to turn her against the girls?
Determined to prove  Ezra’s (Ian Harding) connection to “A,” Spencer (Troian Bellisario) spent the Feb. 4 episode of Pretty Little Liars compiling a collection of damning evidence and planning to tell Aria (Lucy Hale) the truth. Unfortunately, no one was really in the mood to listen to the insane rantings of a pill-popping lunatic who looks like she hasn’t slept in 25 years.
It’s a shame, too, because Spencer was dead-on — about everything. She even figured out that Ezra was watching her from a distance, which is why she and Hanna (Ashley Benson) decided not to break into his apartment, after all.
I guess sometimes you can be too smart for your own good.
Cabin Fever
Sadly, Aria doesn’t have nearly as strong an “A”-dar as Spencer. She spent the weekend with Ezra in his sketchy forest cabin, unaware that every time she left, he crept into the basement to monitor her friends via computer.
Sasha Pieterse Talks Ali's RevengeTake Our Poll
And when she was at the cabin, she played right into his hand, letting him convince her that growing closer to him — and, thusly, drifting apart from her friends and family — is actually a good thing! She didn’t even pick up on his obvious cover-up lines. (“I’m fine… I’m just, uh… I’m glad you stayed!”)
Is it possible that old pink hair dye seeped into Aria’s brain, rendering her unable to see what’s right in front of her face? That girl is hopeless!
Hanna Marin, You Have The Right To Remain Smitten
Is it just for me, or do Hanna and Detective Holbrook — excuse me, Gabe – have crazy chemistry together? Sure, he’s a little older than her, but those Marin women have never been able to resist a man with a badge.
And with Ezra targeting the girls more intensely than ever, it certainly couldn’t hurt to have a detective on their side — unless, of course, he turns out like every other law official on the show so far. Fingers crossed he doesn’t end up trying to get the girls killed!
Show Me The Money
Shana’s been pretty much the worst all season, but she finally started working with Emily (Shay Mitchell) this week, rather than against her. She enlisted Emily’s help to retrieve a wad of cash from Ali’s room — specifically, one that was hidden in the frame of a poster with twins on it. Um… foreshadowing much?!
Unfortunately, Shana wasn’t able to explain what the money was for, because “A” — aka Ezra – scared her into leaving town and never returning. One of the last shots of the episode was of Alison (Sasha Pieterse), scared and alone in a phone booth, looking at a picture of the liars and crying.
Tragic!
