Ben Stiller went searching for a more satisfying existence in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, and now it's Simon Pegg's turn Hector and the Search for Happiness, a new film slated to hit the United Kingdom this fall. In the film Pegg plays a psychiatrist who can't seem to help his patients, and just feels like something in his life is missing. And so, Hector sets out to find out to find true happiness, wherever it may be in the world. This looks charming, and like something completely different for Pegg outside of the realm of sci-fi, action and comedy. But The World's End actress Rosamund Pike is still here for good measure.
Here's the UK trailer for Peter Chelsom's Hector and the Search for Happiness from Collider:
Hector and the Search for Happiness is directed by Peter Chelsom, who wrote the script with newcomer Tinker Lindsay and Swedish filmmaker Maria von Heland, based on Francois Lelord's book of the same name. Hector (Simon Pegg) is an eccentric yet irresistible London psychiatrist in crisis: his patients are just not getting any happier! He’s going nowhere. One day, armed with buckets of courage and an almost child-like curiosity, Hector breaks out of his sheltered vacuum of a life into a global quest to find out if happiness exists. especially for Hector. The film hits the UK sometime this fall, but no word on the US yet.
