Darren Aronofsky's Noah is Getting a 3D Post-Conversion Overseas

Following news that Need for Speed is getting a 3D conversion in post-production (thought not at the last minute), another March release will be getting the same treatment, but only for the international release. Paramount Pictures has decided that the international release of Darren Aronofsky's Biblical epic Noah will be converted to 3D. However, the film will not get a 3D release here in the United States. Instead it will be 65 foreign countries getting the 3D converted film, which included an IMAX release in 32 of those countries. However, there's no assurance that this decision isn't a hasty last minute decision for money.
THR has the report about the 3D conversion, and one of their sources cites Life of Pi as the inspiration for the decision. Mostly because the 3D drama grossed $609 million worldwide. Paramount sees the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and France as markets that will be interested in "the combination of the pedigree of the director and the cast and the dramatic elements of the story." Meanwhile, they seem to think international audiences need a little more incentive. The difference is Life of Pi was filmed in 3D and this seems like a hasty conversion. Hopefully this doesn't ruin the experience for overseas audiences.
