After Paramount Pictures pulled the found footage time travel adventure Welcome to Yesterday from its late February release for a summer or fall debut instead, another small, found footage, sci-fi film is getting delayed as well. ERC reported via Twitter that Relativity Media's seemingly Amblin inspired Earth to Echo has been pushed from its initial April 25th release date to a more daring summer release on July 2nd. Does Relativity think they have a solid enough film to get released in the full summer schedule, or are they hoping they film will start slow and get big by word of mouth? Maybe it could just end up being both.
If you need a refresher, here's the trailer for Earth to Echo from December:
Earth to Echo is directed by Dave Green and written by Henry Gayden, both short filmmakers in their feature debut. When a group of young friends begin to receive bizarre encrypted messages on their cellphones, they embark on an incredible adventure to discover the meaning behind these communications. Soon enough, they realize that the messages they are receiving are from a mysterious being from another world - one who desperately needs their help. Teo Halm, Brian "Astro" Bradley, Reese Hartwig and Ella Linnea Wahlestedt star in the film which Relativity Media sends to theaters on July 2nd this summer.
